Concerts

In the upcoming year, the Northwoods Singers will perform two major concerts per year: one in the fall, and one in the spring. Attendance is required at dress rehearsals.  Absences must be approved in advance by the Director who reserves the right to decide whether these singers will perform in the concerts.  All performances are free and open to the public. In addition, the ensemble performs “Sing-outs” at other times of the year and presents seasonal holiday carols upon request.  The chorus gathers socially throughout the year, typically beginning the fall season with a pot-luck dinner in September.  The spring semester culminates with another pot-luck dinner on the Tuesday of our Annual Meeting. This year’s annual meeting will be held on May 23rd at Ely Memorial UCC in Land O’ Lakes. The potluck will begin at 6:00 with the meeting commencing at approximately 7:15. At this meeting, members of the board are elected, the budget for the upcoming year is approved, and any modifications to the By-Laws.

Rehearsal and Performance Venue

Except for the “Sing-outs” and extra concerts, all rehearsals and performances will be held at the following venue: Ely Memorial UCC in Land O’ Lakes.  The church is located at 4302 County Rd. B.  Any changes to rehearsals or performances will be announced to the group early in the season.

Outreach

In addition to concerts, the Singers are frequently asked to sing for community events such as the Parkinson’s Association December luncheon, and nursing and rehabilitation facilities.  Singers volunteer to perform at “Sing-outs” as a service to local communities.  Each “Sing-out” is also an opportunity for singers to build self- confidence and improve performance skills.
